August 29, 2009

Our first annual puppy reunion took place and the turn-out was great. The party started with a hitch. There was a barn fire just north of us and the police department closed our street.

We already thought that nobody would show up. To top it off, the power went out. When calling the electric company, we were told that the power should be back on by 1:30 PM; the party started at Noon. Great, how were we going to heat up chili and other stuff???

The power came on exactly five minutes before the first guests arrived. Saved by the bell. Since we are in the middle of remodeling and the weather forecast for that day was not the greatest, we had set up for the party in the old restaurant part. We put up some play kennels for the dogs, so that everyone was able to eat in peace and did not have to run after their dogs. This was absolutely unnecessary, since every single pup behaved perfectly. No noses near the food, no trying to sneak a piece.

Sierk did an awesome job with the grill. The poor guy chased up and down the steps to get everything just right. And that it was. By the way, Lynn your brownies were not discovered until late in the evening. They are just awesome and I had a little midnight snack? Now I can keep them all to myself. Thank you Bob for taking great pictures, I finally got some pictures of myself with the dogs.

The kids had a blast running around, playing with the dogs and checking out the horses. All in all, I believe everyone had a great afternoon.

The puppy reunion 2010 is already planned. It will be the same day as the Holland Fest in town and our puppies and their owners will, if all works out, attend the parade before heading to our place for food and fun. Hope to see everyone there.

Here are a few pictures of dogs and owners.
